Peskov: Russia fulfils all obligations under gas deals with Europe

MOSCOW, Oct 13 (PRIME) -- Russia fulfills all its contractual obligations to supply gas to Europe at the upper limit under the deals impeccably, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.

“Russia is flawlessly fulfilling all of its contractual obligations at the top end, that is, all its supply volumes have been increased to the maximum … in light of the contracts that it has and the agreements it has signed,” Peskov said.

“Nothing over and above the contracts can be supplied. How can it be done, free of charge?” Peskov said when asked whether Russia exports extra gas to Europe beyond the limit.

Peskov also said that Russia fulfils all the obligations under the transit deals with Ukraine and is open for dialogue.

“If Ukraine makes competitive commercial offers, it will all continue to work,” Peskov said.

Peskov said that if Ukraine wishes to maintain its transit country status, it should turn to the European partners.

“Kiev’s addressees are gas buyers in Europe. The European companies … that can conclude new long-term agreements with the Russian monopoly with increased volumes, taking into account the growing needs for the blue fuel. That is, to transport something through Ukraine, someone has to buy it. And they are our buyers in Europe,” Peskov said.
